Ellen has developed a keen sense of the needs of people living with disability, after working in the disability sector for the past three years.

During her studies, she worked as a disability support worker, providing support to a variety of NDIS participants with physical, psychosocial and cognitive limitations impacting their quality of life.

Ellen performed direct care duties, including showering/bathing, dressing, preparing meals and assisting with mobility requirements. She also supported clients to establish interests through access to community activities and services.

At university, she gained clinical placement experience working in hospital and community settings. These placements involved:

• Working in inpatient rehabilitation with patients with stroke, musculoskeletal conditions or aged related changes
• Completing functional capacity assessments/ADL assessments
• Prescribing equipment and education
• Recommending home modifications
• Hand and upper limb rehabilitation
• Cognitive/sensory retraining

Ellen enjoys working with individuals to increase their independence and safety in order to achieve their optimal level of function.

She supports NDIS participants across Melbourne’s north-west.
