Position: Occupational Therapist - Broadmeadow

James is a graduate occupational therapist with experience working with people living with mental health issues in both private and public settings.

During his practical student placements, James’ clients included individuals with schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia, intellectual disability, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety and cognitive delay.

His experience involved completing a range of assessments, including:

  • Functional cooking and shopping assessments
  • Cognitive screening (Allen’s cognitive screen)
  • Occupational self-assessment
  • Mental state examinations

James also employed a mix of tools during his placements, such as relapse management planning, dialectical behaviour therapy (cognitive behavioural therapy), interpersonal skill building, psychoeducation, and the ‘Recovery Star’ for supporting adults with mental health problems.

When working with NDIS participants he enjoys the opportunity to partner closely with people to solve problems and enable them to do what they love.

James supports participants across Newcastle and the Central Coast.
