Ability Action Australia

NDIS Therapeutic Supports Provider

Across Australia, demand for therapeutic and positive behaviour services often exceeds the available skilled workforce. A core component of our workforce development approach is the intentional integration of regional and remote service delivery into clinician capability-building. Outreach work enables clinicians to broaden their scope of practice, strengthen autonomy, and deepen their understanding of participant needs within diverse community contexts.

Our Outreach Model

Our regional and remote outreach model is designed to balance continuity of care for participants with sustainable workforce engagement. That’s why our outreach program is built on flexibility and consistency:

Holistic approach

We collaborate with local providers, families, and support networks to ensure participants receive comprehensive, ongoing care.

This structured approach supports ongoing therapeutic relationships, strong stakeholder connections, and consistent service delivery.

Outreach Clinician Selection and Support

Outreach opportunities are offered through a targeted selection process to ensure clinicians are well suited to the demands of regional and remote practice. Clinicians selected for outreach roles typically demonstrate strong clinical foundations, effective time management, and the ability to build and sustain relationships across varied service environments.

Clinicians transitioning into outreach work are supported through tailored onboarding, access to supervision, and practical guidance to ensure they are well prepared for the logistical and clinical aspects of remote service delivery. This approach ensures outreach work contributes positively to clinician development, wellbeing and retention.

Dedicated Leadership for Regional and Remote Services

To further embed regional and remote service delivery within our workforce strategy, we have introduced a dedicated Regional & Remote Business Partner role. This role reflects our commitment to moving beyond individual outreach placements toward a coordinated, sustainable and nationally consistent approach.

The Regional & Remote Business Partner supports workforce development by:

Coordinating outreach services across regions to ensure clinicians are well-prepared and supported

Strengthening consistency, quality and safety across all regional and remote service locations

Building relationships with local stakeholders, including community organisations and First Nations groups, to support culturally responsive service delivery

Identifying opportunities for responsible expansion into new regions, informed by community need and workforce capacity

Through this integrated approach to regional and remote services, we are strengthening access for participants while supporting the development of a skilled, adaptable and sustainable workforce. This approach ensures services remain responsive to community need, while also supporting continuity of care and long-term workforce capability.
