NDIS Therapeutic Supports Provider

Libby Owen

Position: Behaviour Support Practitioner - Lismore

Libby is based in Goonellabah, and supports NDIS participants throughout Lismore and the surrounding areas of Northern NSW.

Being a neurodivergent practitioner, along with navigating a blended family of five children, enriches her ability to have a neuro-affirming view to her role by understanding the diverse perspectives, fostering empathy and adaptability in supporting the unique needs of clients.

Libby combines this with over a decade’s experience as a primary school teacher and previous experience as a Positive Behaviour Practitioner, informing her approach to Positive Behaviour Support.

Over her teaching career, she was dedicated to supporting the emotional, behavioural and wellbeing needs of the students. She mentored and built the capacity of school staff, collaborating closely with the students to identify their needs and ensuring that educators were equipped to provide effective support.

Libby has experience with a range of assessments and tools, including Functional Behaviour Assessments, Sandtray Therapy, Youth Mental Health First Aid, VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program) and Essentials for Living assessments, as well as numerous courses relating to emotional regulation, Autism and ADHD.

Libby loves learning from her clients. She is committed to advocating for each client’s unique voice and potential, with the goal of empowering the client to thrive. “I enjoy building the capacity, knowledge, and understanding of the team around the young person. Watching them grow in confidence and compassion in supporting the young person in a way that is most aligned to the needs and wants of that young person is such a ride!”
