Tiarah Hunkin

Tiarah is a Behaviour Support Practitioner based in Townsville who is currently completing a Bachelor of Social Work.

Hailing from a rural farming community in north-west Victoria and coming from a large, culturally-diverse family, Tiarah is passionate about improving people’s mental health, wellbeing, and quality-of-life.

In particular, Tiarah is passionate about supporting those living with disability or mental health concerns in farming and agricultural communities, as well as remote First Nations Communities, who can experience challenges in accessing appropriate services and resources due to their geographical remoteness.

In addition to her formal education and training, Tiarah brings 18 years of hands-on experience in the disability and mental health sector, where she supported people across the lifespan from culturally, linguistically and gender and sex diverse backgrounds using a neuro-affirming, anti-oppressive, trauma informed, and personcentred approach.

According to Tiarah, “I love working with people with disability because it allows us to champion human rights, collaborate to help them live their best lives, and continually learn from one another, all while embracing creativity and having fun along the way.”
