Early Childhood is a special time.
Get the right support to get more out of life.
At Ability Action Australia, we support children aged under 9 and their families to ‘get more out of life today’. This includes helping young children to:
- Build their skills
- Be as independent as possible
- Participate meaningfully in everyday activities at home and in the community
- Reach their potential and be less likely to require ongoing supports later in life
It’s all about helping children make the best possible start, by providing the right type of support at the right time.
There are two ways to access support for children
aged under 9 from Ability Action Australia:
1.
You can directly access the specific therapy service your child needs
To learn more about these services and request support, please refer to our Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology or Positive Behaviour Support pages, or see all our services here.
or
2.
You can use our Key Worker Model to access NDIS Early Childhood Support.
This sees one person (the Key Worker) support you and your child to get the support they need, drawing on other allied health professionals as needed. Please refer to our Early Childhood Support page to learn more.

Why choose Ability Action Australia?
Our approach to supporting children under 9
We believe in building a strong and trusting relationship with the children and families that we support. We take the time to get to know you and your routines, so that we can understand your needs and share our expertise.
We aim to build on your child’s strengths to enhance their learning, development and participation. You’ll find that we explore play and interest-based activities that help to keep your child engaged.
We provide therapy in everyday environments where your child feels comfortable. This means we’ll visit your child at home, childcare, school or within the community. We also have clinics located across Australia.
You can learn more about how we help children via our NDIS Early Childhood Support services page, including information on our Key Worker Model.
You can also learn about how we support parents and carers to develop the skills and confidence to make the best decisions for their child and family.
“I like the Key Worker Model as I deal with one person only. Previously I found it hard with many therapists as I spent most of the time trying to get my son to sessions and not much therapy happened. Very happy with the Key Worker Model instead.”

NDIS therapeutic, positive behaviour and employment supports
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a way of supporting people with permanent and significant disability. The NDIS is designed to give individuals greater choice and control over when, where and how their funded supports are provided. The specific support and funding available is based on each individual’s specific needs. You can find out more about what therapeutic supports are funded by referring to the NDIS website.
Ability Action Australia provides therapeutic, positive behaviour and employment supports across Australia.
