NDIS Therapeutic Supports Provider

Aileen, Occupational Therapist

Aileen Protheroe

Position: Occupational Therapist - Melbourne

Aileen is an accomplished Occupational Therapist with experience in both acute hospital and community settings. Having trained and qualified in the UK, she honed her skills in the city of London for six years before embarking on a new chapter in Melbourne.

Aileen’s career began in the acute hospital setting, rotating across medical, surgical, oncology, hand therapy, orthopaedics, elderly care, and in-patient stroke rehabilitation. Her roles involved physical and cognitive assessments, discharge planning, condition management, equipment provision, and reablement support, all aimed at facilitating smooth transitions for patients returning home.

Transitioning to the community sector, Aileen worked in neurological rehabilitation, where she provided support to individuals with neurological conditions such as strokes, motor neuron disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injuries and more. In this role she specialised in:

  • Complex seating, posture and positioning assessments
  • Specialist equipment provision
  • Splinting and contracture management
  • Upper limb rehabilitation and management
  • Physical and cognitive rehabilitation and management

Just two years into her career, she took on a senior position as a specialist Occupational Therapist, which involved supervisory responsibilities over students, junior OTs, and rehab assistants.
She was also involved in several service improvement projects, one of which she led on start to finish.

“I love enabling people with disabilities to have the best quality of life possible through finding meaningful engagement in their daily lives and optimising their independence” she says.

Based in Caroline Springs, Aileen is excited to be supporting NDIS participants across metropolitan Melbourne.
