Maja Cantillas

As a Team Leader and Occupational Therapist with Ability Action Australia, Maja leads by example and provides an extensive range of supports to participants to help them achieve their goals and increase their independence.

Her previous experience includes time spent working as a site lead and occupational therapist. Working in a community and residential aged-care facility, she provided vital support to clients of all ages who presented a mixture of conditions.

She gained a substantial amount of relevant experience from roles undertaken in the Philippines. In one role, Maja worked with children as an occupational therapist and administrator. She also has experience teaching others, having held the role of occupational therapist instructor and lecturer at a local university.

Along with supporting her team at Ability Action Australia, Maja gives clients vital care and support to help them on their journey back to recovery. Some of her key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out functional capacity assessments
• Creating treatment plans for participants
• Educating clients on assistive technology

“My job is incredibly rewarding. It allows me to make a difference in people’s lives by personalising their journey through purposeful activity and supporting desired outcomes,” she says.
