Nerena Kuppasamy

For almost two decades, Nerena was the Chief Occupational Therapist at a psychiatric hospital in South Africa. In this role, she utilised a range of assessments, including the Model of Creative Ability and Mini-Mental State Exam to support people living with a range of mental health conditions.

Nerena has experience supporting people living with:

• Schizophrenia
• Bipolar Mood Disorder
• Substance induced psychosis
• Intellectual disability with behavioural problems
• Personality disorders
• Schizo-affective disorder
• Attention Deficit Disorder (in adults)

Prior to this role, Nerena was a Community Service Occupational Therapist, working in outpatient and inpatient assessment and intervention for general physical cases, including hand rehabilitation, orthopaedics, Cerebral Palsy and learning disabilities.

Nerena loves being able to make small changes in participants lives that have a major impact on their lifestyles and that of their family members. She says, “doctors will save lives, but OT’s teach people how to live again.”

Nerena is available to support participants in south Brisbane suburbs.
